WAEN / OUR PROCESS

Pieces that capture light are born with patience.

At Waen, every piece is shaped not by the logic of “fast production,” but by respect for the material, the rhythm of time, and the honesty of handcraft.
Below, you can see the journey of a piece from the workshop to your home.

1) Inspiration & Sketch

Everything begins with a feeling and a scene: a botanical form, a vintage detail, light filtering through a window… First come small sketches, then a measured design plan. Because glass does not understand “approximate” — it understands precision.

The language of Waen: simple forms, quiet yet meaningful details, and surfaces that change with light.

We experiment countless times to capture the ideal form and feeling for each piece.

Selecting the glass panels is an essential part of our work. We craft our pieces from carefully chosen first-quality opal glass panels, selected for their texture and color.

2) Glass Selection

At Waen, color is not “paint” — it is the material itself. Texture, opacity, and the natural waves within the glass contribute to the overall aesthetic of the piece. Every glass sheet is different. Even two versions of the same design will never be exact copies: they tell the same story, but speak different sentences in the language of light.

  • Texture & Transparency Balance

The texture of the glass determines whether the light breaks softly or brightly across the surface.

  • Color Harmony

A palette where tones support each other rather than relying on a single shade.

  • Sustainable Approach

Suitable fragments are separated and reused; waste is kept to a minimum.

3) Cutting & Shaping

A design template is prepared; the glass is marked and cut piece by piece. After cutting, the edges are refined and smoothed. This stage does not tolerate speed. A millimeter of deviation can disrupt the entire composition.

Here, patience is not only a virtue — it is a direct method of quality control.

4) Assembly & Surface Finishing

The pieces are first tested in place, then permanently assembled. Afterward come surface cleaning and finishing steps.

The goal is not to “polish” the material artificially, but to clarify and reveal its natural character. At this point, the product must go beyond looking beautiful in a photograph —  it needs to feel right in the hand.

The Waen standard: durability + aesthetics + ease of use. Not only for display — but for everyday life.

5) Final Check, Packaging & Journey

Before shipping, every piece is checked once more: surface, edges, form balance, and overall presence. Then comes secure packaging. Glass is fragile — but well-packed craftsmanship travels safely. We guarantee that your piece will arrive intact.
